Think Big! What does your space say about you?

Take a Seat!

October 12, 2009

I recently had the rare opportunity to watch “CBS Sunday Morning.”  I was interested to see that they had a segment on ergonomic office chairs.  The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines ergonomics as “An applied science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely.”  Furniture companies have spent a lot of time researching how people work and how they use their desk chairs. Not only do people come in all shapes and sizes but we do not sit still in our chairs. What many companies have come up with are chairs with greater flexibility that are simpler to operate.

Below are a few designs that were featured on the segment.  Not only do these provide ease of use, comfort and flexibility, but these chairs have been designed with environmental sustainability in mind. Minimal use of materials and recycled materials are just a part of the story.  42%-97% of the materials on these chairs are recyclable.

The chairs shown here are just a few of the many options available.  Included is the iconic Herman Miller Aeron chair, now 15 years old, but the others are the latest and greatest featured on “Sunday Morning.”  Stayed tuned for Big Sky’s favorite task chairs, tried and true, coming soon!
